How drunk driver killed Lagos breadwinner, left wife unconscious for three days
A baker, Taofeek Olawale Hanofi, was returning home with his wife, Taiwo, on the night of December 9th, 2022, when a minibus popularly called ‘Korope’, crushed them on the walkway.
Hanofi died at the scene, according to his brother Saheed, while Taiwo ended up spending weeks at the hospital.
The brother and friend of the deceased claimed that the driver of the bus, Arinze Okafor, was drunk and that he had consumed a cocktail of illicit drugs before getting behind the wheel.
The family of the deceased is accusing the police of the shoddy handling of the matter and wanting to bury it. They also slammed the driver’s family, the owner of the bus for not showing concern.
Meanwhile, the father of the suspect, Vincent Ekoro, has alleged that the deceased’s family collected one million Naira and still let the case go to court.
The deceased’s family says they want justice to be served in the matter.
