‘Judgment sacking Bayelsa APC Exco can’t stand judicial scrutiny’
BAYELSA State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Dennis Otiotio, has urged the party members and supporters not to be bothered by a High Court judgment in Yenagoa which purportedly sacked the state executive council (Exco) and nullified the ward, local government and state congresses of the party.
Reacting to the ruling yesterday, Ototio said the ‘kangaroo’ judgment delivered by a Judge, who is direct brother of the Special Adviser to Bayelsa State Governor on Political Matters, Chief Collins Cocodia, could not stand the test of judicial scrutiny. The Bayelsa State High Court sitting in Yenagoa had on Friday sacked the APC Exco and nullified all the ward, local government and state congresses held between 3rd and 4th of September, 2021 and 16 October, 2021.
Otiotio said the judgment was a great miscarriage of justice and denial of fair hearing as the cases were held without a lawyer representing APC and a lawyer representing him as second defendant. He said the party had instructed its lawyers who had complied and filed a notice of appeal and a motion for stay-of-execution of the judgment at the registry of the Bayelsa State High Court.
The APC chairman said: “We should concentrate on the objective which is to ensure that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu wins the presidential election in Bayelsa State and all our senatorial, House of Reps and State House of Assembly candidates win in Bayelsa.”
That’s our objective, that’s our aim and that is what all APC members should be doing in Bayelsa State.
