One of the family compounds title holders in Ibadanland, Mogaji Kosoko Family, Waheed Kosoko, has been stripped of the Mogaji title and ordered never to parade himself as one again.

This was contained in a letter with Reference No. OIC/1/Vol.8/102 dated 27th December 2022 and signed by the Secretary, Olubadan Advisory Council, Kamorudeen Liasu.

Entitled ‘Revocation of Appointment as Mogaji Kosoko Family, Agbeni Area, Ibadan, the letter, according to a statement by Oladele Ogunsola, the Personal Assistant on Media to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, on Wednesday, accused the Mogaji of using abusive language on Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Tajudeen Ajibola.

The letter reads in part, “The attention of Kabiyesi Olubadan of Ibadanland has been drawn to the acts of mischief, insubordination, use of abusive language as well as a threat to the life of Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Barrister Tajudeen Abimbola Ajibola by you.

“These acts are contrary to and punishable under the Chiefs Law. Aside, sources further disclosed that you are in possession of two different letters of appointment appointing you as (i) Mogaji Kosoko Family and (ii) Mogaji Kosoko Onilabu family, both dated 9th January 2017 while records from this office show your appointment as Mogaji Kosoko Family and not Onilabu Family.

“Your acts, which the Council viewed as forgery and misleading. In effect, therefore, the Council at its meeting held on Monday 19th December 2022 resolved that your appointment as Mogaji Kosoko Family is hereby revoked, that the letter dated 9th January 2017 or any letter purportedly appointing you as Mogaji Kosoko is hereby withdrawn, and declared as Null and Void.

“That you should stop parading yourself in the community as Mogaji Kosoko Family forthwith”, the letter added just as it enjoined him to adhere strictly to the directives by the council as any violation would not be condoned.
