Osinbajo meets Tinubu
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was at the Abuja residence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
This was vice president’s first visit of the ruling party’s candidate since the party’s primary produced Tinubu in June.
The vice president also campaigned for the APC ticket, but came in third place, behind former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi.
Tinubu, who held on to the ticket, visited all his co-aspirants, including the vice president to solicit for their support.
Osinbajo has not been seen at any of the APC presidential rallies since the campaign train took off in Jos, the Plateau capital.
But a statement by the Presidency in October asked the vice president and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha be excused from the campaigns.
The two officials should face governance while President Muhammadu Buhari leads the train.
But at about 7pm yesterday, the vice president, accompanied by few of his personal aides, showed up at at Tinubu’s Asokoro residence.
The Nation gathered that the two leaders held a closed meeting that lasted for almost an hour.
A source said: “The vice president came in at about 7pm and entered into a closed-door meeting with Asiwaju. The meeting lasted for about an hour.
“Efforts by reporters to speak with the vice president failed as he refused to disclose the thrust of his visit and meeting with his former boss before he drove off.”
He was received by Tinubu’s running mate Senator Kashim Shetimma; Deputy Director-General of APC presidential Campaign Council (PCC) Comrade Adams Oshiomhole; former Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dele Alake, Secretary of the PCC/House of Representatives member James Faleke and one-time Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Malam Nuhu Ribadu.
