Kidnappers kill Ondo businessman after picking ransom

A businessman in Ugbe, Akoko Northeast local government area of Ondo State, Mr. Augustine Okoye, has been killed by his abductors after payment of ransom.

 

It was learnt that Okoye was kidnapped with his wife along the Isua-Ise Akoko highway.

 

Sources said the kidnappers killed the man after collecting money from the family and freed the wife.

 

Another source said the husband was killed before ransom was paid.

 

A police source in Ikare Akoko, who confirmed the incident, said the vehicle of the victims have been recovered from the scene of the incident.

 

The police source said men of the Ondo Amotekun corps and local vigilante groups were combing the forest to recover the dead body and arrest the suspects.

 

Ondo police spokesman, SP Funmilayo Odunlami, could not be reached for comments.
