Ex-Kano Reps aspirant sues LP leaders, seeks refund

Following the alleged failure of Labour Party leadership to refund his N500,000 nomination fee, an aggrieved former aspirant of the Federal House of Representatives, Fagge Federal Constituency, Kano State, Hon Osita Nwankwo, over the weekend, instituted a writ of summon against the party leadership, claiming the sum of N2 million.

 

In the motion on notice, supported by an 11-paragraph affidavit, the plaintiff, explained that the N2 million was the financial expenses he incurred while erecting political structures for the 2023 general election.

 

Joined in the suit are the Labour Party, its national and the state chairmen, with written addresses in support of motion on notice, including attached evidence of payment of the said amount.

 

Among others, the plaintiff is praying the court to mandate the defendants, the Labour Party leadership, to also pay the cost of filing and prosecuting this action, as well as any further order, as the Honourable court deems fit to make in the circumstance.

The suit was filed on behalf of the plaintiff by four lawyers, Okechukwu Nwaeze, S.U Jubril, Y.I sharif, and U.B Salisu.

 

The motion, filed on December 9, 2022, will be served on the first defendant, the Labour Party National Headquarters, Garki, the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and the second defendant, National headquarters, Garki, FCT- Abuja.

 

Meanwhile, no date has been fixed for mention.
