Nasarawa govt employs 300 health workers

The Nasarawa State government has absorbed no fewer than 300 casual and volunteer health workers across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state, into pensionable and permanent appointments.

 

The Executive Chairman of the state’s Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Mohammed Usman Adis, made the disclosure in Lafia while defending the Agency’s 2023 budget before the State House of Assembly Committee on Health, on Friday.

 

He explained that the newly recruited workers are those who had served for many years in various primary healthcare centres in the state.

 

Dr. Adis said the absorption of the casual and volunteer health workers would go a long way in improving on the health status of the people of the state.

 

He commended the committee for supporting the activities of the Agency to succeed.

 

The Executive Chairman also commended the state governor, Abdullahi Sule, for his good policies and programmes in the health sector.

 

He assured of his continuous commitment to coordinate and supervise the activities of the primary healthcare centres across the state for the improved health status of its residents.

 

On his part, the Chairman of the House Committee on Health, Usman Labaran Shafa, thanked Governor Abdullahi Sule for prioritising the health sector of the state.

 

“I want to commend His Excellency for approving the absorption of casual and volunteer health workers into pensionable and Permanent appointments.

 

“We will continue to support you and other health agencies in the state to succeed, ” he added.

 

The chairman tasked health personnel under the payroll of the state government to continue to adhere strictly to their professional ethics in the interest of the health of the people and for the overall development of the state.
