273 Drums Of Petrol Burnt by Navy in Calabar
NNS Victory, The Nigerian Navy Ship, Calabar, along the Calabar waterways has set ablaze a seized wooden boat filled with 273 drums of Premium Motor Spirits (PMS).
LT CDR Isaac Ayogu speaking with journalists in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, the Base Operation Officer of NNS Victory, explained that the suspects were intercepted en route Agbani oil terminal.
LT CDR Ayogu assured Nigerians that the Navy is busy activitly finding ways to rid the maritime environment of all illegalities to ensure that legitimate maritime activities can thrive.
Ayogu said the exercise is in line with the standard procedure of the Nigerian Navy as directed by General Lucky Irabor, Chief of Defense Staff, that any item arrested associated with crude oil theft and illegal oil bunkering be destroyed and any suspects, handed over to appropriate prosecuting agency.
The six suspects have been handed over to the appropriate prosecuting agency which happens to be the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
