APC Hired Impostors As Lagos4Lagos Movement Defectors To Ruling Party – Jandor
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Dr AbdulAzeez Adediran, also called Jandor has said that the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) hired impostors to pose as members of Lagos4Lagos Movement decamping to the ruling party on Thursday.
While making a clarification on the report that 5,000 of his supporters defected to the ruling party during a press conference in his Ikeja office over the weekend, the PDP candidate said that he didn’t lose any of his supporters, stressing that the ruling party stage-managed the defection to deceive Lagosians.
The leader of the Lagos4Lagos Movement said that none of his members went to the APC, and berated the ruling party for doing shabby work where they claimed that 5,000 people defected even though what was seen on the video were less than 50 people.
He said, “No member of the Lagos4Lagos Movement was there. What are we going there for, we have all we need in the PDP.
“We don’t have money, but we have God and the people. I don’t know most of these faces that were put clothes on in the name of defection.
“What happened on Thursday is a paid job. Our members were not there, they are still with us. All our coordinators are still with us and they are here at this news conference. We are 100 per cent intact,” he said.
Jandor challenged the Lagos APC to publish the names of the defectors and the positions they held in the movement.
Jandor stressed that he watched the video and saw less than 50 people, who were not even members of the movement, stressing that APC staged the defection.
The PDP candidate said that he was busy relating with voters, while some people were stage-managing defection.
While unveiling the list of Lagos4Lagos Movement and its excos, he said that it was only it’s former chairman, Prince Sunday Ajayi that was not with them in all its excos that moved out of the APC.
Some of the leaders of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, who spoke at the news conference, said that they are still with the movement.
Hon. Hakeem Adebayo, special project director to Jandor, faulted the ruling party for misleading Lagosians.
He said, “This is not how defection is done. In this kind of election, you can see some smaller parties which cannot sustain the rigour of campaigns joining bigger parties.
“The 2023 gubernatorial election is between our candidate Jandor and the incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. They should come out with records of what they have done. When the campaign starts in earnest, which we are already doing, we will come out with facts and figures.
“The debt of Lagos State is rising every day. Let them put up a debate between our candidate and their candidate. When they were busy with the stage-managed defector’s issue, we were busy on the field marketing our candidates to Lagosians.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged candidates to speak on issues which is what we have been doing, Sanwo-Olu has grown the debt of Lagos State. Let us know what he has done with the money. Poverty is ravaging the land. We all live in Lagos, where is the wealth of Lagos State? These are the issues that everyone should be concerned with,” he said.
The Lagos State chairman of the PDP, Dr Philip Aivoji, who was at the conference, said that the PDP didn’t have a problem in Lagos, adding that they are united, formidable and are going to win the forthcoming election.
“We are going to teach APC a lesson. Our candidate is touring all the wards in the state to seek votes, we are united, APC cannot beat us,” he said.
