We need more patrol vehicles to fight insecurity in Kwara – NSCDC
The Kwara Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has called on the State Government to provide more patrol vehicles for 24-hours surveillance.
The NSCDC command said the logistics support would ensure adequate security in the state.
The Commandant, Mr Muhammed Ibrahim, made the appeal while fielding questions from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Ilorin.
Ibrahim noted that there are security challenges in some parts of the state and has started affecting the peace and stability of Kwara, underscoring the urgent need to tackle the concern.
“There are rampant cases of theft, vandalism, cultism and kidnap across the state which needs immediate attention, for the people to have rest of mind while going about their various businesses.
“NSCDC with other security agencies are making efforts to ensure adequate security, but there is need to do more.
“We have the personnel in NSCDC to curb insecurity, the only challenge we have is logistics, especially the lack of enough patrol vehicles.
“We need patrol vehicles in all the 16 local government areas of the state in order to promptly answer and attend to distress calls at any time of the day or night,” he said.
The commandant however said that the national headquarters of NSCDC had been informed of the need for more patrol vehicles for quick response to distress calls.
He, therefore, called on the state government to assist the corps by providing more patrol vehicles for the officers to work more effectively and ensure timely intervention of any security challenge.
Ibrahim assured the state that the officers and men of the corps would continue to ensure total peace and stability by evicting all evil perpetrators from the state.
