Okada rider crushed, FRSC hunts killer driver
The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed the death of an Okada rider in a fatal crash along the Choba Bridge, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The corps said the victim, identified only as Charly, collided with a private car that was driving against traffic on the bridge.
The Sector Commander, FRSC, Rivers State, Salisu Galadunci, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Port Harcourt, described the incident as unfortunate.
He said,” The accident that happened this morning at Km 3, East-West, is very unfortunate.
“A motorcycle rider was moving on his lane. The Mazda lost control and hit the Okada man.
“Unfortunately, the Okada man was the one that died. The driver of the Mazda ran away because people rushed there and wanted to beat him.
“The body of the Okada man was taken to a morgue, while the motorcycle and the vehicle were towed to the Choba Police Station for further investigation.”
Galadunci, who assured that the driver would be trailed with the vehicle number plate and arrested, advised motorists to avoid speeding and other forms of dangerous driving.
