Operatives of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested an ex-convict, Yekini Opeyemi, 35, for allegedly being in possession of two stolen 2.8KVA power generators.

Opeyemi was reportedly working as a guard at Ojota New Garage before his arrest around 4am yesterday in the area.

He was alleged to be in the company of some other men who fled the scene and had attempted to load one Firman and a Tigmax generator into a Volkswagens Golf car.

When accosted, Yekini, who has been imprisoned on four occasions over separate incidents, could not give any satisfactory explanation about the generators, Hundeyin said.

According to him, preliminary investigation revealed that Opeyemi arrived Lagos last week and got a job as a guard.

“The Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alabi, while commending the RRS Commander, CSP Yinka Egbeyemi, directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti for further investigation and prosecution,” he said.
