The National Chairman of the Peoples Demo Party, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, is set to leave the country on Wednesday, destination location are still a mystery.

 

Althiugh reasons for his trip have not been made public, he will be remaining abroad for the rest of September.

 

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser, (Media and Communications), Simon Imobo-Tswam, made available to newsmen in Abuja, Ayu said he will be away for “about two weeks.”

 

Imobo- Tswana said, the National Chairman “will leave Nigeria for Europe tomorrow (Wednesday).

 

“Ayu will be out of the country for about two weeks.

 

“While away, the Deputy Chairman (North), Amb. Iliya Damagun, will act in his place.

 

“Already, the National chairman has communicated the handover to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He is expected back at month-end.”

 

INEC has slated September 28 for the lifting of the ban for Political campaigns for the 2023 general elections.

 

It is expected that the PDP will along side other political parties will unveil the list of members of its Presidential Campaign Council.

 

Vanguard gathered that the yet to be resolved dispute between Wike and the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar is largely responsible for the delay in unveiling the list.

 

Recall, the Chairman mandated the Deputy Chairman (North) to lead a delegation of members of the National Working Committee of the party to visit Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and other aggrieved party members to find solutions to the crisis of confidence between the aggrieved members and the party.
