Delay of trial of suspected killers of Sheik Aisami’s of Yobe

The trial of the two dismissed soldiers, Lance Cpls John Gabriel and Adamu Gideon in connection with the killing of the Islamic Cleric in Yobe State, Sheik Aisami Goni Gashua, may experience some delay over the vacation in the courts.

 

It is discovered police have already sent the case file to the Ministry of Justice, but the case cannot be filed because all the courts in the country are on vacation.

 

Yobe Police Public relation Officer, DSP DungusAbdulkareen on when the suspects would be charged to court told our reporter that the police have already sent the ‘case file’ to the Director of Public Prosecution(DPP) in the Ministry of Justice for advice.

 

“The police have finished their job and sent the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution for advice. As soon as the file is returned to us, we shall be proceeding to the High Court with the charges,” DSP Abdulkareen said.

 

The Director Public Prosecution in the Ministry of Justice, Yobe Ali Adam confirmed the receipt of the case file from the police when contacted.
