Kidnapper, rail vandals arrested in Plateau, as troops neutralise bandits in Zamfara
A suspected notorious kidnapper, Mr Zwanlan Fatim, 42 years old has been arrested by troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN.
The suspect who is also linked to armed robber and cattle rustler was arrested on Monday, at Shendam town, Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The troops recovered one locally made pistol, five cartridges, one rounds of 7.62mm NATO, two mobile phones, two Union Bank ATM cards, 1 x ID card, assorted charms amongst others.
In the same vein, the troops on Tuesday, July 26 intercepted two rail vandals, namely, Mr Abba Abdul, 23 years and My Joseph ZI, 26years at Bas village, Heipang District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State. The suspected vandals were intercepted while conveying Eighty Six (86) railways UIC sleepers in a red Peugeot Boxer vehicle with registration No BAU 05 SX.
As the troops have continued to deny the terrorists and other criminal elements freedom of action in their area of operations, the troops of HADARIN DAJI in the early hours of yesterday, July 27 responded to a distress call from Bayi village in Tsefe Local Government Area of banditry activities. “The troops trailed bandits to one Alhaji Bello Dan Iya’s residence and neutralized one bandit. Items recovered include; one AK47 rifle, one magazine, 4 rounds 7.632mm special, one MPs, one sachet of marijuana amongst others. Earlier, on 25 July 2022, troops engaged one suspected bandit on motorcycle while commuting bush path along Gidan Garba, Magami Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Troops recovered one AK47 rifle and 2 pairs of woodland camouflage. All recovered items are in own custody,” said Director, Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters, Major General Bernard Onyeuko in a statement.
