Delta: Police arrest suspect over killing of Deputy Senate President’s aide
Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected cultist in connection with the killing of Mr. Cyril Mudiagbe, an aide to the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, in Sapele town, Sapele Local Council of the state.
Mudiagbe also known as Cyril Makanaki was killed on Sunday night.
It was learnt that the late Mudiagbe, said to be a member of Eiye confraternity and vigilante had issues with other rival cultists.
He was killed in the night in his house and found in a pool of his blood the following morning.
The incident caused tension in the area as security operatives, including men of the vigilante group took over the area in search of the killers.
Many of the shops in the area have also been closed as a result of the incident.
Some neighbours said the killers were fierce looking gunmen who came to rob at the plaza opposite his house before going for him.
Another source said Mudiagbe was shot by the assailants through the window, saying “they were banging his window and when he opened his window they shot him on the chest.”
Contacted, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Edafe Bright, confirmed the incident, stressing that: “Cyrill Mudiagbe was killed during a cult clash between Eiye and other rival cult groups.”
Edafe said that a suspect had been arrested in connection with the killing, while police are still hunting for others. (The Guardian)
