Angry mob set motorcycle robber ablaze in Anambra
A member of a robbery gang who specialises in robbing unsuspecting victims with motorcycles has been set ablaze by an irate mob.
The incident happened at the Afor Nkpor market in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The suspect was said to have, on arrival at the market, pointed a gun at some people in the market and ordered them to surrender all they had to him immediately.
It was gathered that in the process of handing over the said items to him, one of the victims shouted on top of his voice that they were being robbed, which attracted other passers-by.
On noticing that other people had been alerted, the suspect attempted to speed off, but was held by some youths who rushed to the scene.
The suspect was immediately set ablaze by the angry mob with his motorcycle and gun even as on-lookers identified him as one of a three-man armed robbery gang that escaped death by the whiskers when two of his accomplices were earlier set ablaze at the Ogidi building materials market, last week.
They were also said to have, on the fateful day, robbed some victims at the Ogidi area, but escaped with the motorcycle.
It was gathered that the same motorcycle he escaped with was the one he also attempted to use in robbing again before he met his waterloo.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Tochukwu Ikenga, said he was not aware of the incident but pleaded for time to contact the Ogidi Divisional Police Officer, Mr. Ekuri Remigius. (The PUNCH)
