The Anambra State Government has rescued three children from an illegal orphanage at Oba Idemili-South local government area of the state

The state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and Social Welfare, Hon. Ify Obinabo, disclosed this to our correspondent during an exclusive interview.

She said she led a team of ministry officials with security agents and stormed a certain orphanage on an unscheduled visit at Oba Idemili-South in the wee hours of the morning and rescued three children from the orphanage.

Obinabo said, “The new administration in Anambra State has zero tolerance for illegal adoptions. If we can stop illegal adoptions, we will checkmate people involved in baby making because nobody will patronise them at least here in Anambra state.

“So far, we have burst so many homes that were adopted illegally and we rescued the children in Anambra State here. We have gone to one home somewhere in Oba Idemili-South. I raided there at 5am. We left Awka a few minutes before 4am with the Nigeria police and we raided that place. I rescued three children. They are in our home right now.

“So Governor Soludo has zero tolerance to any form of abuse on our children and based on that, I want to do a familiarisation tour of all the homes. It is an unscheduled visit because they don’t know I am coming because it is for me to have an on-the-spot assessment of how they are taking care of our princes and princesses in their respective homes. If any home is found wanting, be rest assured that that home will be shut down forthwith,” she said. (Daily Independent)
