2023: APGA presidential candidate urges Igbo chiefs to deliver North

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Prof. Peter Umeadi, has urged Igbo traditional rulers in the 19 northern states to work hard, and in conjunction with is running mate, Alhaji Abdullahi Koli Mohammed, to win elections in the north for him.

Umeadi, who eulogised his VP, said APGA is a great project because the quality of the personalities flying the party’s ticket.

The presidential candidate, who was the Chief Judge of Anambra State, spoke in Abuja when Association of Ndieze Igbo in the 19 Northern States endorsed his candidature.

He said: “You now have a capable man who will assist you every inch of the way in the north in a bid to delivering APGA in the north. The party now has a national outlook and a credible and formidable team which we will take to the 2023 elections where we hope to emerge victorious.”

Mohammed, on his part, said their endorsement was a historic moment and a blessing, adding that that was all they needed to clinch the presidency.

He said it was his pleasure to meet and work with an accomplished professor of law like Umeadi.

Mohammed further said the cock which is the mascot of APGA signifies doggedness and love and care, saying the party is poised to imbibe those qualities and use them to advance socio-economic fortunes of Nigeria.

He therefore charged the chiefs to pool their resources together and support the cause of APGA and drive the presidential ambition of Prof. Umeadi.

Earlier, chairman of the association, HRH Igwe Ikechukwu Akpudo, the Ndieze Igbo Kano who spoke on behave of the chiefs, said they endorsed the Umeadi/Mohammed ticket because of their sterling leadership qualities.

They decried poor governance which has caused poverty and despondency in the country, emphasising the need for change in the governance of the nation in order to make Nigeria great again. (Daily Trust)
