The Social Democratic Party (SDP), has alleged that “APC’s thugs are kidnapping members of SDP  ahead of Saturday election.

A statement issued by the Segun Oni Campaign Organisation’s Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Jackson Adebayo on Wednesday said no fewer than four members of the party had already been kidnapped. The SDP accused the APC of being behind kidnappings in Ekiti state.

According to the party in the statement, “The All Progressives Party (APC) has started to use thugs in kidnapping some SDP members in order to disrupt the Saturday governorship election in the state.

It stated that the whereabouts of the kidnapped men, among whom is Hon. Kayode Adelusi aka Sir K could not be ascertained as at the time of this report.

The SDP recalls that it had earlier raised the alarm on the nefarious plan of the APC which is now unfolding as evident in recent unprovoked attacks.

The SDP added that the APC had mapped out this kidnapping strategy to cause disruption thereby causing confusion to scare eligible voters in performing their civic duties.

“It is the plan of the incumbent APC government to embarrass, molest and threaten innocent SDP members and supporters as well as instil fear in their minds even before the election”, the party further alleges.

The party lamented that despite the fact that the law enforcement agents were aware of this development, nothing was being done presently to curb the menace.

The party warned the APC to stop the ongoing harassment and intimidation of SDP members in all the local government areas of the state, stressing the need for peace before, during and after the election.

The SDP reminded the APC that should it refused to heed this warning, nobody had the monopoly of violence.
