51 Eiye Confraternity members nabbed during anniversary celebration

51 members of Eiye Confraternity Cult Group were yesterday nabbed by Police operatives in Ogwashi- Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.

It was gathered that the cult members were arrested in the late hours of 15/6/2022 after the Command received a tip-off, that some suspected Eiye Confraternity Cult group will be marking their anniversary in Ogwashi-Uku.

It was learnt that the Command swiftly acted on this information and located where and when the ceremony will be held.

It was revealed that a detailed team led by CP Ari Muhammed Ali stormed the venue at Big Apple Hotel in Ogwashi-Uku where some of the suspects engaged the police in a gun duel in their bid to escape.

It was revealed that the police operatives arrested the 51 suspects after a hot chase while two cut-to-size locally made guns, one expended cartridge and Eiye Confraternity regalia were recovered from them.

It was learnt that the suspects have been transferred to the Command Anti-Cult unit (SACU) for investigation, and those found wanting upon completion of the investigation will be charged to court.

Hence, Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ali Ari warned that cultism and other related vices would not be tolerated on the state. (Daily Independent)
