Group gives police 14-day ultimatum to produce killers of woman, four kids in Anambra
A group, Youth and Students Advocates for Development Initiative (YSAD) has issued the police and other security agencies a 14-day ultimatum to produce the killers of a pregnant woman, Harira Jubril in Anambra State.
Late Mrs. Jubril, who hailed from Adamawa State, but resided with her husband, Jubril Ahmed at Isulo, Orumba North Local Council of Anambra State, was killed alongside her four children in Anambra State last week.
Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, yesterday, the Imo State Coordinator of the group, Chima Igbokwe, said they would “not rest on the matter until justice is delivered and dispensed.”
The group, which described the incident as “most unfortunate, disheartening and condemnable,” said, there was no justification for cutting short lives of those innocent children and that of their mother for whatsoever reason or sentiment.
It said: “YSAD has been in the forefront of the campaign against human rights abuses and crimes bordering on brutality, extortion and daily harassment of citizens by the men and officers of the Nigeria Police Force and other sister security agencies.
“We consider the killing of this innocent woman and her children as the height of human rights abuse. It is most unfortunate, inhumane, disheartening and should be condemned by all well-meaning Nigerians.
“So YSAD condemns the killings in their entirety and calls on all the security agencies to apprehend and prosecute those behind the gruesome execution-style murders within two weeks, or we may be left with no other option than to explore all legitimate alternatives within the confines of the laws, and as contemplated by the Constitution.” (The Guardian)
