After 20 years of contesting, Engineer Rodney Ambaiowei, a Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant, has clinched his party’s ticket to represent Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency of Bayelsa during the 2023 general elections.

Commenting on the development, Ambaiowei thanked the leadership of the party and the delegates for voting for him at the primary.

He said the journey had just started and that he was counting on the cooperation of the constituents to dislodge the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency.

He said, “I want to specifically thank my brother, Hon. Kurokegha Dorgu, and other aspirants for the show of sportsmanship. What is paramount to all of us is the development of our constituency.

“In Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, we are one big family that cannot be separated by the outcome of any elections.

“We have been operating like this for several years and so shall we continue. I promise that I will not take the support given to me by the constituents, PDP and our amiable Governor Diri, for granted.

“I will champion the course of the Southern Ijaw on the floor of the green chamber, as well as collaborate with the executive arm of the government at the state level in ushering development to Bayelsa,” he said. ( Daily Trust)
