Gunmen killed 3 of my colleagues, took our rifles — Police Officer
A police officer, Abdulkadir Sulaiman, has narrated how some gunmen killed three policemen and a commercial motorcyclist in Suleja, Niger State.
He said the attack occurred Thursday at about 11pm at Old Barracks area where they were doing their routine duties.
He said he was fortunate to survive the attack after being shot at thrice by the gunmen but his colleagues were not so lucky.
Speaking from his hospital bed, Sulaiman said about five gunmen got to the scene on foot, “And in the process of asking them about their identity, they immediately brought out rifles, and started shootings at us.
“Three of my colleagues died instantly alongside the motorcyclist, who was stopped for questioning. I was shot three times – two on my hands and one in my upper leg, which made me fall while they assumed that I had died,” he said.
He said they lost two of their rifles to the gunmen, while their team leader who was sitting inside a private vehicle around the scene escaped unhurt.
The passenger had been discharged from the Suleja General Hospital where she was treated when our reporter visited.
