The stage is finally set for a battle royale of political heavy weights of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as party fixes primaries for May 14, 2022.

Coming from the south senatorial zone is, the self acclaimed godfather of Anambra politics, Chief Chris Uba, the governorship candidate of PDP during the November 6, 2021 governorship election in the State, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, and Dr Obinna Uzoh.

Jostling for the ticket in the North senatorial zone of the state are, former governorship candidate of PDP and former Chairman in the State, Dr Tony Nwoye, former Minister, Chief John Emeka and former Aviation Minister Stella Oduah.

Oduah, is currently, the Senator representing Anambra North zone at the red chamber.

Others said to have been cleared by the PDP Screening Committee include, Mrs Peace Ezeabikwa and Senator Uche Ekwunife who is of Anambra central senatorial zone.

From the fore-going, the PDP senatorial ticket in the three zones would not be a Tea Party for any of the aspirants, as the contenders are all political giants in Anambra politics in terms of followership, money and influence.

Chris Uba was defeated by the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Dr Ifeanyi Ubah, in the 2019 senatorial election and may have reset his area of flaws to ensure victory in the second coming.

His zone is mostly the area of interest for most political watchers.
