2023: Mass resignation hits Ganduje’s cabinet

Hours after Governor Abdullahi Ganduje ordered every political appointee aspiring for elective positions in 2023 to resign, some of them have tender their resignation.

Kano State Commissioner for Rural Development, Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso, announced his resignation in an audio clip aired across radio stations.

However, sources close to the former commissioner revealed that Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso resigned to contest for membership of the House of Representatives under Kura, Madobi and Garun Malam Federal Constituency.

Another political appointee who tendered his resignation is Murtala Sule Garo.

Garo, who is believed to be the anointed candidate of Kano state first lady, tendered his resignation as the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Similarly, Kano state commissioner for Budget and Planning Alhaji Nura Muhammed Dankade, also tendered his resignation.

The former commissioner resigned to aspire for the seat of federal representative representing Tudunwada and Doguwa federal constituency in the upcoming 2023 general election.

However, sources in the state APC revealed that many political appointees will soon join the 2023 race.

Before the governor’s ultimatum, Alhaji Sadiq Wali resigned as Commissioner for Water Resources to vie for governorship in Kano.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, Ganduje directed all his political appointees interested in 2023 elections to resign before Monday.

The information was contained in a statement issued and signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Abba Anwar.

According to the statement, the directive was to comply with the provision of section 84(12) of the newly amended Electoral Act. (Daily Trust)
