INEC Registration Centre attacked by gunmen, kill officer in charge
Gunmen on Thursday attacked some adhoc staff members of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), at a registration centre in Nkwo Ihitte Market, Imo State.
According to Daily Post, the gun men stormed the center, shooting sporadically in the air, killing one of the INEC officer in charge of the registration.
An eyewitness, identified as Chief Okpegbuo, said, “We had all gathered in the village square in obedience to the directive that we should come out en masse to register.
“Not long we queued, the gunmen came in, shot sporadically, hoarded many into a room with a threat to kill them while others scampered for safety.” (Text, excluding headline: Daily Independent)
