Man bathes wife with hot water in Ondo
A middle-aged man, Oluwaseun Ojo, has allegedly injured his wife, Iyanu Oluwaseun, in a fracas after pouring hot water on her, following a minor disagreement.
The victim, Iyanu was said to have sustained a high degree of injury and was rushed to a hospital where she is said to be receiving treatment.
The incident happened during a disagreement between the couple in Owo, headquarters of Owo Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the husband, Ojo, reportedly poured boiled water on his wife after a fracas
Condemning the infliction of injury by the man, the wife of the state governor, Mrs Betty Akeredolu, vowed to get justice for the housewife whose husband bathed with hot water.
The first lady who described the incident as bestial and intolerable said it was a shameful act that could not be justified under any guise.
A statement by the Ondo First Lady and signed by Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media and Archives, Debo Akinbami, said individuals who indulged in such heinous conduct under whatever pretext do not deserve to dwell among humans.
She stated that the Ondo State Agency Against Gender-Based Violence was handling the case to ensure justice is served.
According to the statement, “The spate of spousal violence in the country is disturbing and regrettable. It is recurring and requires sterner actions. The narrative is both sad and sour. We cannot continue like this and just cannot afford inertia.
“Women should, at once, accept the fact that it is foolhardy to indulge abusive spouses to the detriment of one’s mental and physical health. Why die in an abusive marriage? Women should speak up against abuse and possibly walk out of deleterious relationships,” she stated. (Courtesy Nigerian Tribune)
