Three men arrested in Gombe with fresh human head

Gombe State Police Command on Thursday said it has arrested three suspects over alleged possession of a fresh human head.

The suspects: Yale Saleh (27), Baba Muhammadu (24) and Aminu Salisu, 22 all of Dinawa village in Kwami Local Government Area of Gombe State were paraded at the command’s headquarters over alleged criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of human head.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Ishola Babaita, said the trio were arrested on March 30 with a human head, following credible information.

He said preliminary investigation revealed that the three suspects dug a grave in the night and cut off the head of a male deceased (name withheld), who was buried on March 28 morning at Dinawa village cemetery.

According to him, the suspects further confessed to having dug the grave of a deceased woman name yet to be known at the same Dinawa village cemetery and cut off her head.

CP Babaita added that an effort was ongoing to recover the second head, saying the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and prosecution.

Also, one Aliyu Musa Nagangarawa (20), of DabanMagarya village in Balanga LGA of the state, was arrested for killing his cousin.

CP Babaita said police personnel from Balanga Division had on March 23 arrested the suspect after he fatally stabbed his cousin, Dahiru Mukhtar, with a knife on his neck, following a misunderstanding over a trouser.

The police stated that the suspect has confessed to the crime, adding that he will be charged to court for prosecution after an ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, 12 others were also paraded by the police over different crimes ranging from rape, theft, criminal conspiracy, possession of illegal arms and housebreaking among others.

The police revealed that an investigation was ongoing in the respective cases, saying the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution. (Daily Trust)
