No fewer than 500 supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have finally dumped the party and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State ahead of the 2023 elections.

The National Vice Chairman of PDP, South-East Zone, Chief Ali Odefa, alongside the Abia State Working Committee members of PDP were present to welcome Hon. Amobi Ogah into the party with thousands of his loyalists and supporters.

While welcoming him into the party, Chief Odefa described PDP as a democratic and people oriented party where contests are thrown open as against selling off the party’s ticket to the highest bidders.

He congratulated Hon. Ogah for his foresightedness which led to his leaving his former party, APC to a party which represents the best prospects for Nigeria and Nigerians at this point in the nation’s history.

Going down the memory lane, the party chieftain vividly recounted the good governance that obtained in the days of PDP vis-à-vis the ineptitude characterized with the current APC government.

He noted that a litre of fuel was sold at the price of N87 when Goodluck Jonathan was handing over power to APC now, a litre of fuel currently sells at the price of N250 with unending queues seen at various filling stations.

He called on all Abians and Nigerians at large to arm themselves with their Permanent Voter cards which they can change the bad APC administration.

“They can come after us with security agents and thugs, but we must overcome them with the power in our PVCs,” he maintained.

On his part, Hon. Amobi Ogah who is the younger brother to the Minister of state, Steel and Mines Development, expressed joy for having left his former party.

He stated that the party must take over the reins of the country’s leadership come 2023.

“I am prophetic. In 2014, I told my brother, the current Minister that APC would win the presidency and it happened. This is 2022, I have envisioned PDP taking over the reins of leadership in this country in 2023, and so will it happen.

“I have been to APC. Nothing is happening there. APC isn’t a political platform which Nigerians should hope on. The political players are coming to terms with this reality and I am urging the electorate to do same by voting for PDP candidates at all levels,” he asserted.

The Abia State Chairman of PDP, Rt. Hon. Alwell Asiforo Okere, the Chairman of Isuikwuato LGA, Hon. Chima Agbaeze, the House of Assembly member, representing Umunneochi State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Okey Igwe, the Abia State PDP women leader among others who spoke at the event, commended the bold step taken by Hon.Ogah describing it as worthwhile and timely, saying that more persons would join the party soon.

The Ebonyi State Chairman of PDP, Hon. Tochukwu Okorie, who accompanied the National Vice Chairman to the event which saw Hon. Amobi Ogah alongside his thousands of supporters finding solace in the PDP. The event climaxed with the burning of their brooms by the former APC members.
