Two men on their way to Ekuku Agbor for the burial of their relative have been kidnapped by suspected Fulani herdsmen reported to have been terrorizing the area.

The kidnapped men, according to family source, were Mr Chukwuyem Afam, a son to late Sunday Afam whose burial was slated for today, 25th March, 2022 at Ekuku Agbor, and one of their in-laws, Mr Eric Etunim who was called up to come and pick up Mr Afam from the train station at Owa Oyibu.

They were driving back to Ekuku Agbor after Mr Etunim had picked him up when they were accosted by kidnappers suspected to be Fulani herdsmen who after shooting sporadically into the air, whisked the duo away.

It was reported that Mr Chukwuyem, one of the children of late Sunday Afam based in Abuja travelled down from Abuja for the burial of his father.

The source said that he decided to call on one of their in-laws, Mr Etunim who obliged him the request and picked him up but were unfortunately kidnapped by suspected Fulani herdsmen on their way back to Ekuku Agbor.

The source said that the kidnappers had contacted the family with initial demand of N13 million ransom, which they brought down to N5 million per person base on their last contact.

The burial ceremony of the late Afam turned into a very painful ordeal as the family member went ahead to bury their father since they have fixed the date amidst anxiety and apprehension. (Text, excluding headline, courtesy of Delta State News Bulletin)
