Touts defy Gov Soludo order in revenue collection in Anambra
Gloria Anaeze Some victims of the motorists, shuttles bus and Keke touting in Onitsha and its environs, Messers Ifeanyi Okaka, Julius Ifeakandu and Ibegbu Cyprain, have appealed to Gov. Chukwuma Soludo to devise effective means of identifying and arresting hoodlums who have continued to defy government order on the collection of government revenue in the state.
The victims are among many residents who have so far experienced pains in the hands of touts who were recruited by immediate administration in the state to collect government revenue through their agents and cronies.
A notorious transport union known to have continued to collect illegal revenue from commercial drivers within the Onitsha metropolis is (UDWAAS), United Drivers’ Welfare Association.
The union is notorious for causing traffic congestion while collecting unverifiable revenue along busy roads at Onitsha Old Market Road,Army Barracks Bus Stop, Lagos Park (Upper -Iweka), Upper iweka axis of Tracas by Nitel bus stop ,People’s Club (Nkpor Old Road, New Parts Fly-Over,Nkpor Onitsha Main Market, Kano Street, Egerton Road, among others.
