Fire guts Warri market, consumes goods worth millions of naira

Fire has gutted properties worth millions of naira at Market Road in Warri close to Warri Main Market on Tuesday March 8, 2022.

The fire which started at the early hours of today was said to have begun from where they use to sell illegal diesel and fuel behind the stores in the market road.

Though The pieces of information were still sketchy as at the time of this report, one Mr Coama Giama who sells building materials said that he lost everything in his two stores to the fire.

A lady who sells drinks and provisions said she could not enter shop to collect anything because of the heat of the fire, according to her diesel and fuel is sold behind her shop.

Efforts by the State Fire Service to put off the fire wasn’t enough to save the traders goods and their shops in the market, as the fire razed the shops to the ground. 

Both perishable and non-perishable items are sold in the market.
