Troops exchange gunfire with ISWAP fighters in Borno
Troops and suspected fighters of the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) exchanged gunfire in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State on Monday evening.
According to sources, the gun fight lasted for about an half hour.
It was gathered that the ISWAP stormed the town through Biu highway but met a swift response from the gallant troop and was successfully repelled.
“It was successfully repelled by gallant troops in Damboa. The gun battle lasted for about 25 minutes before they fled in different directions,” the source said.
ISWAP fighters have been staging attacks in different parts of the North East.
