Gombe gov inaugurates 500 youths for security
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has urged 500 personnel inaugurated for security, traffic and environment corps to ensure inter-agency collaboration with federal security operatives.
The governor said as a pioneer organisation, it would be necessary to serve as ambassadors of the state while discharging their duties without bias.
He made this disclosure on Saturday at the passing-out parade of the Gombe State Security, Traffic and Environmental Corps (GOSTEC), at Amada, Akko Local Government Area.
Represented by his deputy, Dr. Manassah Jatau, the governor lauded their perseverance in undergoing the two-week rigorous camp training, stressing that his administration would put all the necessary measures in place to ensure the successful posting of the members of the corps to their respective duty posts for immediate engagement across the 114 wards in the state.
Yahaya said, “As pioneers of this programme, I urge you all to uphold and strive hard to use the knowledge and skills you acquired in the cause of your training in order to discharge your assigned responsibilities efficiently well without fear or favour.
“You should work smart and interrelate professionally with other existing Government agencies for harmonious working relationships and making Gombe State better as you function respectively.
“We expect the best from you in performance, attitude and also being good ambassadors of our programmes and policies for improving human capital development in our dear state,” he said.
Commenting on the resolve of the state to institute peaceful co-existence, the governor promised to partner traditional and religious institutions in achieving development.
“We are optimistic that the engagement of these personnel graduating today on various cadre will improve and enhance the enforcement of traffic, security and environmental laws and order in the state significantly. I implore us all to give them the necessary support and encouragement to discharge their duties well for our collective benefit.
“Our administration shall continue to partner with all relevant national and international organisations, development partners, traditional institutions, civil society and religious groups in order to improve the living standard of our people and create decent and sustainable jobs for the teeming youth population,” Yahaya said.
