Wife baths husband with hot water at Fulani settlement in Ogun
One Ramota Soliu has allegedly killed her husband, Bello Soliu, with hot water at a Fulani settlement in the Iyana Ilewo area of Abeokuta North Local Government of the state.
It was gathered that the hot water poured on Bello eventually led to his death.
The mother of two, whose relationship with the deceased had been on for six years, was reported to have fled the scene of the incident.
It was gathered that the deceased, had last Friday, invited his relations to appeal to his wife on his behalf over her unwholesome behaviour.
The woman was said to be fond of starving him and an Arabic student living with them.
One of the brothers to the deceased, Usman Soliu, said the suspect on Saturday morning woke up and boiled water which she used to bathe her husband.
“My brother has always been complaining about Ramota. She had a habit of starving an Arabic student living with them. Sometimes, she would not serve my brother food too.
“For peace to reign, Bello invited us to talk to his wife. People waded in on Friday, talked to her, but she didn’t say anything in response.
“Very early on Saturday morning, she woke up and started boiling water. People thought she wanted to make Amala or ogi. The water was on fire for like one hour. All of a sudden, we heard a loud noise from her husband quarters where he was sleeping.
“We rushed down to see what was happening, and we discovered that that woman had bathed our brother with the water she boiled. His body was already peeling.
“We rushed him to a hospital at Rounder in Abeokuta, but he was rejected. We took him somewhere else. But he eventually died on Tuesday evening,” he said.
The deceased had since been buried according to another brother of the deceased who identified himself as Aliu Soliu.
He said the family is in search of the suspect.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed knowledge of the incident.
“I heard the information on a radio programme. I am not sure if the case was reported to the police,” Oyeyemi said.
