Fire guts Kebbi Primary Healthcare Centre

Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC), Maga, Danko/Wasagu Local Government of Kebbi State, was gutted by fire on Friday.

Sarkin Wari Mohammad D.Sani, who confirmed the incident said, the cause of the fire is still unknown.

He, however, observed that the lack of fire fighting equipment and water in the centre rendered  staff and members of the community who rushed to the scene for help, completely helpless.

The rescuers and staff watched helplessly from a safe distance as the fire continue to engulf the entire giagantic multi-million naira PHC buildings.

 A staff of the centre said they were inside when suddenly they sighted smoke coming from the backyard.

“We shouted for help, the host community came to our rescue. Unfortunately, their was no fire extinguisher and water to fight the fire.

“We couldn’t also get help from fire fighters from anywhere including Ribah, the LG headquarters despite several calls for help.

“All of us had to stay from a safe distance and watch helplessly as the fire expands to other buildings in the health centre,” the staff stated. 

“It’s really sad watching helplessly a multi-million naira Health centre and equipment get engulfed in fire,” he said.

He however, added that most  equipments and properties were engulfed by the fire, “only few equipments were salvaged.”

No life or injury was sustained in the inferno.
