Ooni shows me 3 different sides in 3 years, says Naomi
By ALAO ABIODUN
Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, the wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has said she saw different sides of her husband in the last three years.
She described him as “unpredictable”.
Olori Naomi stated this in the replay footage aired by News Central TV, monitored by our reporter on Friday.
Olori Naomi had referred her audience in her divorce statement to the interview with the media outlet.
Asked during the interview to describe the monarch, she said: “He is highly unpredictable.
“Most of the time I shy away from describing him because when you say he is this, he comes up with something special.
“In the last three years, I’ve seen different sides of Ooni.
“One thing I can say without prejudice and without thinking twice is that he a happy man.
“He likes to be happy. He likes to be in the midst of people.
“Ooni would tell you 24/7 that he does not get worried, but the state of the nation worries him, and the state of Africa worries him.
“He wants Africa to be great. He wants to always make sure people are fine especially meeting requests.”
Speaking on how she and the monarch met, she said: “Well for me I was busy with what I knew how to do best, which is ministry, and first of it was the connection with what I was doing and then a king will always be a king, so it wasn’t like the normal ‘oh you’re beautiful, and I think you’re going to be this, and that’.
“It came in as well. ‘I’ve prayed about this, and I’d let you pray if you want to, but I’m certain that if you pray to your God, he is going to tell you the same thing that I’m telling you today.
“I care deeply about you, and having prayed about it, you’ll be best for me and the kingdom, and I prayed about it.’”
She said the Ooni gave her time to pray over the proposal to marry her.
“I wouldn’t be able to do this without the support of my family, because we are closely knitted together, and they all prayed with me, and they told me, we are here when you look back.
“…I’ll never forget that night when he said those words to me.”
Naomi, who said she should be addressed as “the Queen of the People” in her statement, said religion was never an issue in their marriage.
She said: “We unwind by discussing culture and religion. People need to understand that culture is beautiful. God created us in his image.
“God loves drums, we drum in Christendom. We had forefathers who went to heaven, they had a way they communicated God.
“I enjoy serving God. Culture connects me to God.”
The palace said Thursday that it was yet to be formally notified of Naomi’s decision to end the union. (The Nation)
