The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has condemned the alleged humiliation of an aged Warri-based lawyer, Andrew Obido, by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Warri.
It said it received with shock the report of the NBA Warri Branch Chairman, Chief Emmanuel Uti on the incident.
The association added that it would report the judge to the National Judicial Council (NJC).
The NEC said the judge was alleged to have directed Mr Ubido, in open court, “to stand and face the wall for making a noise in the court registry.”
According to www.barristerng.com, the lawyer had gone to the Court Registry to file a document when his conversations with the registrars resounded in Justice Abang’s court.
The judge was said to have been enraged and ordered that the lawyer be brought before him.
The lawyer was then ordered him to serve the punishment
