Father seeks justice for children crushed to death in Rivers
By OBINNA NWAOKU, Port Harcourt
A man, Segun Opikhara has cried out for justice for his two children crushed to death by a minibus conveying a task force team along Aba road area in Obio-Akpor Local Council of Rivers State.
The deceased identified as Hepzibah and Joshua Opikhara, aged one and three years old, respectively were on December 13 crushed to death by the minibus, which was driving against traffic.
The father explained that the bus was chasing a commercial vehicle when the accident happened.
Opikhara said one of the task force members was apprehended and the vehicle impounded and taken by a detective at the miniokoro police station.
He called on authorities to help fish out remaining members of the fleeing task force responsible for the act.
He said: “Obio/Akpor taskforce was chasing another bus near where my children were standing by the roadside, waiting to cross to their right direction when an unknown motor hit them. This was how my children were killed.
“I was called from the office only to rush down to meet my daughter who had already died and my son followed a day later.
“I am appealing to government, the police and the task force to fish out people behind my children’s death.” (The Guardian)
