Aviation unions are set to ground activities at the Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc from next Monday, following the refusal of its management to approve the 13th-month gross salary to its members in the company.

A statement jointly signed by Comrade Frances Akinjole, Comrade Ocheme Aba, Deputy General Secretary and General Secretary of the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) and National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), respectively said that the action was the resolution of the joint congress of the unions reached on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.

The statement hinted that the management had failed to effect the payment of 100 per cent gross salary as the 13th month to every staff, which was duly expressed in their joint letter of December 14, 2021, stressing that the action of the management violated the Condition of Service (CoS) of the company’s workers.

The statement added: “We hereby inform that SAHCO workers are fully mobilised to commence a total withdrawal of services in all SAHCO operational locations nationwide, starting from Monday, December 20, 2021. The sanctity of SAHCO staff Conditions of Service (CoS) must be sustained.”
