Ebonyi blacklists 13 contractors for non-completion of projects

Ebonyi State government said it has blacklisted 13 companies over failure to complete projects awarded to them by the State Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB) for the year 2016, 2017 and 2018.

The State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barrister Uchenna Orji, who stated on Tuesday night in a joint press briefing with other Commissioners on the outcome of the State Executive Council Meeting held on Tuesday at the new EXCo chambers, Centenary city,Abakaliki, said the companies had been banned from doing any form of contract work with UBEB and the State government.

The companies include: Another Level Enterprise Ltd, Triumphant Contractor Ltd, Head and Tail Nig Ltd, Top Goals Ltd, Sampraise Ltd, Vision Page Ltd, Clemopez Inv. Ltd and Febiks Multiservice Ltd.

Others are: Uwasum NIG Ltd, Dyre Associate Ltd, Mercy Seat Ltd
Ngwu Chuks Ltd and Krimola Nig. Ltd

On his part, the State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State, Barrister Cletus Ofoke, told journalists that the state government had set up a Public Complaint Committee to look into issues of rules of engagement and infractions on human rights and to make appropriate recommendations to the Governor of the State.

Ofoke said the committee to be constituted would be made up of traditional rulers; human right commission; Ministry of Justice; Secretary to the State Government& Coordinating Commissioner; Security consultant; and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

Others are Elders Council; Nigeria Bar Association; Ministry of Information and State Orientation; and the State Ombudsman headed by the Principal Secretary to the Governor, Mr Emma Obasi, would serve as the secretary while the committee members was mandated to elect their chairman.

Also, the Commissioner for Education, Dr Sunday Nwangele, announced that the State had passed and executive order No 6,2021 (as amended) intended to streamline the fees payable for the conduct of certain school examination in the State, to be called “Executive Order/Harmonization of Examination Fees and Examination Dates 2021.”

“The Executive Order deemed to have come into effect on 7th day of December, 2021 is called “Executive Order/Harmonization of Examination Fees and Examination Dates 2021. Under this arrangement, all payments shall be made directly into the State IGR account and the Chairman of PTA will present a teller to the Ministry of Education which will authenticate same with the Ministry of Finance and a Cheque of 50% of the money be remitted to the school through the PTA of the School.

“The Secretary and Treasurer of the PTA shall be signing all cheques for the PTA. Any loss of money whatsoever shall be replaced within 24 hours by the officer responsible for remittance,” Nwangele explained
