The Osun State Police Command has said one of its operatives, Sgt Joba Onatunde, is facing orderly room trial for being drunk while in uniform.

Onatunde, who was captured in a viral video answering questions from a man whose face was not recorded, appeared heavily drunk and was incoherent in his responses.

Also in the video, the cop said he came from Ipetumodu, the headquarters of Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State, to Osogbo, but did not disclose his mission.

According to findings, the video was recorded around the Aregbesola area, along the Osogbo/Gbongan Road in Osogbo.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, said Onatunde had been arrested and detained over the matter.

Opalola, in a statement obtained in Osogbo on Wednesday, said, “The command has identified, arrested and detained the police officer, Sgt Onatunde Joba, who was drunk and whose video went viral.

“Investigation and disciplinary actions have commenced as the police officer is undergoing orderly room trial.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode, is using this medium to state that the stringent disciplinary action he will face will serve as a deterrent to other officers of his likes, as the command under his watch will not tolerate or condone  any act that is capable of tarnishing the image of the Force, or unbecoming of a police officer.”
