Tension in Delta as kidnappers abduct ex-soldier, demand N5m ransom for DELSU students
Tension has gripped Nsukwa kingdom, in Aniocha South Council of Delta State, following the kidnap of an ex-soldier, Chief Michael Oloamiwe, the Owelle of Nsukwa kingdom, by unknown gunmen.
It was learnt that Chief Oloamiwe was abducted about four days ago along Ogidi-Nsukwa road on his way back home from a meeting at the palace of HRM Obi Kenneth Ezegbunem, the Obi of Nsukwa kingdom.
He was reportedly waylaid by the gunmen near one rubber plantation on the road.
Sources said while the Chief was slowly passing through the road, the gunmen fired at the front tyre of his SUV and he applied the brake and stopped, in the process the gunmen quickly whisked him away from his car and took him into the bush.
According to the source, the Nsukwa vigilante and policemen from the Nsukwa Divisional Police Headquarters were duly informed of the incident which had already thrown the community into confusion as no ransom had been demanded or the whereabouts of the victim known, four days after his abductors took him away.
The security personnel, who were at the scene of crime reportedly took his SUV to the Nsukwa Divisional Police Headquarters, saying, “This is a terrible incident which has never happened in this area in the past.”
Contacted, Delta State Command’s spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, said it was a case of missing person and not kidnap, since his abductors have not in anyway demanded ransom.
Meanwhile, kidnappers have demanded N5million as ransom for the release of four students of the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka and five others abducted along Abraka-Eku road.
The names of abducted the students are Arogbo Harriet Seyifunmi, Azunobi Prosper, Miracle Etavbwobor Robert, who are all 500 level students of the department of SLT Chemistry and Adegor Aghogho Happiness, a 500 level student of Electrical Engineering. They all wrote their final exams recently.
