Gunmen attack Police headquarters in Abia, kill one

Suspected gunmen have reportedly attacked the Police Command Headquarters in Abia State located along Bende road in Umuahia North local government area of the state.
A yet-to-be-identified police sergeant was killed during a gun duel between policemen and the gunmen.
The incident which occurred Monday morning was said to have caused uproar amongst residents in the area.
The deceased was said to have been on guard at the front of the police headquarters when the unknown gunmen struck the area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna could not be reached for comments as at the time of filing the report, our correspondent however gathered that a team of police officers repelled the attackers and stopped them from carrying out their intentions.
Sources within Umuahia disclosed that a combined team of policemen and soldiers have been parading the streets of Umuahia after the incident happened. (The Nation)
