The Borno State Police Command has paraded a woman, Anita Yohanna, who was allegedly arrested with live ammunition while boarding a car to Yola from Askira town, in the Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.

The 25-year-old claimed that she was given the ammunition by her military boyfriend, one Lance Corporal Aliyu Isa, to deliver to the driver of a commercial vehicle heading for Yola.

She said, “I have been dating the soldier for one year and four months now. His name is Aliyu Isa, a Lance Corporal with the Nigerian Army, serving in Askira. He gave me the bag and instructed me to take it to a park in Uba and waybill it in a vehicle going to Yola. I arrived at the Una Motor Park around 5pm. When I got to the driver, he asked me what was in the bag and I told him I did not know. Then, he said we should open it to confirm before he would accept the luggage. Upon opening the bag, we discovered it was live ammunition. We discovered 90 rounds of live ammunition; that was how I was arrested and brought to the state police headquarters.”

Yohanna noted that the soldier had been arrested and detained by the military.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Borno State, Abdu Umar, said the case was one of many other criminal cases undergoing investigations by the command.

He said the police were also investigating four rape cases of minors, thefts and vandalism of electrical armoured cables.

Umar assured that all the cases would be charged to court at the completion of investigations. ( The PUNCH)
