The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has vowed to go after distributors as well as consumers of the hard drug, methamphetamine otherwise known as Mkpuru Mmiri among the Igbo which it said is destroying many youths in the South East.
A press statement signed by the media and publicity Secretary of the group, Emma Powerful lamented that some youths in Biafra land have resorted to the consumption of the destructive hard drug.
This development it said is very strange and completely unacceptable.
It claimed that it is the same hard drug that renders Almajiris in the North useless, and so its consumption won’t be tolerated among youths in the South East.
The group blamed security agents for the problem of methamphetamine among the Almajiris and janjaweed in the North, and vowed they won’t allow that to happen in Eastern region.
It encouraged every community to have departments to checkmate those selling and taking the drugs.
It said: “IPOB hereby declares war against this nonsense. We shall go after those taking or distributing this harmful illicit drug. Henceforth, anyone found peddling, consuming or in anyway involved in the distribution of this illicit drug shall be decisively dealt with.
“Biafran youths are known for their enterprising spirit, entrepreneurship and diligence. IPOB will not allow evil men and unpatriotic elements to ruin or destroy the future of our youths with Mkpuru Mmiri,” the statement said..
It commended communities which have already risen to curb the use of the evil and solicited useful information about those behind the distribution of the drug so as to deal with them.
It added: “Our desire is that Biafra will be one of the best countries in the world and a role model for sister African countries. This is the mindset we want our youths to imbibe, and not the evil infested NIGERIA mentality.”
