Moneybags pushed me out of APC — Bafarawa
A former governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa, has said he was pushed out of the All Progressives Congress by some moneybags who came into the party with the intention of grabbing power.
Bafarawa, one of the founding members of the APC, narrated how his discussion with erstwhile Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the United States of America led to the formation of the APC.
He said, “I was one of the founding members of the APC. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and I were involved. We met in the United States of America and suggested the formation of APC. What made me leave the party was injustice. The constitution of the APC was formed in my house. So, when we formed the party, a governor left his party to join the APC.
“Then we were asked to surrender the leadership of the party to them. When I asked why we should hand over the party to them, they said they had the money; they were going to contribute $100m each. So, I left the APC because I was pushed out of it.
“Yes, I was pushed out because we got our party registered and then these people came in; just because they were governors and were ready to give money to the party. We were asked to hand over the party to them because we don’t have the money to fund the party. So, you can see that I didn’t leave the party; I was pushed out,” he said.
