Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded Anambra State governorship election, Senator Andy Uba, has rejected the outcome of the election and vowed to reclaim what he described as his stolen mandate in court.
Uba came a distant third, losing both his Uga Ward and Aguata Local Government Area to the eventual winner, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the ruling party in the state.
Expressing his frustration on Saturday while addressing party members and supporters, Uba questioned the credibility of the exercise, saying that it was impossible for him to have lost including in areas where APGA Ward Chairmen defected to APC. He insisted that the election was fraught with a lot of irregularities and that he would challenge its outcome in court.
“I am confident that APC will reclaim the stolen mandate at the court,” Uba said.
He urged party members not to be discouraged by what happened on November 6 and during the Ihiala supplementary ballot of November 9, expressing confidence that the party would win in court.
According to him, once he is fighting, he does not look back.
He thanked God for keeping every member alive throughout the campaign and election.
Uba described what happened during the election as a temporary setback, stressing that the party would retrieve its mandate.
He also decried the activities of party chieftains who allegedly worked against APC during the election.
“I am not hungry and nobody here on the high table is hungry and by grace of God we will recover this mandate,” he said.
Speaking during the meeting, Uba’s running mate, Barr. Emeka Okafor, equally said he would not accept the outcome of the election.
Alleging that there were a lot of odds against the party during the election, Okafor said that INEC did not come to his polling unit until 3pm and by 4pm election ended.
“I am confident that we will retrieve the mandate in the court. It is not you all over yet,” he said.
