Goronyo Sokoto massacre, a national tragedy, laments Ex-Kogi Gov Idris

Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, former Kogi Governor has described the magnitude of massacre of human lives in Goronyo market of Sokoto State as colossal and a national tragedy which calls for more security rearrangement.

The former governor who was reacting to the killings of about 120 innocent lives, stated that this is near genocide that had occurred in Sokoto state.

The sultanate High Chief sympathised with the people and government of the state as well as the Sultan of Sokoto over the continuous attack in recent times in the caliphate.

He described Sokoto and its people as peace-loving, noting that the new trend of attacks is alien to the age-long culture and beliefs of the people.

“I have lived for decades in Sokoto State and its environs, the current situation calls for prayers and sober reflections on the unfortunate incidences.

“We call for more security actions and presence to nip in the bud, the high level attacks on the peaceful people of Sokoto State,” he said.

He commiserated with the people and families of loved ones who lost their loved ones and properties in the incident, praying “for the repose of their souls”.
